Our Story - More Than Just a Pet Shop

Inverell Pet World is a family business built from our love of animals and our desire to create something meaningful for our family and our community.

I purchased the pet shop with my son, Finbar, in mind. Finbar is neurodivergent and has always had a natural connection with animals. He is calm, gentle and caring with them, but can be quiet and shy around people.

I wanted to create a place where Finbar could build his confidence, develop workplace skills and gradually come out of his shell, while doing something he genuinely loves.

Today, Finbar is an important part of our team. He helps care for and handle the animals, speaks with customers, provides general animal advice and is always happy to help wherever he can.

For us, Inverell Pet World is about much more than selling pets. It's about animals, family, confidence, learning and creating opportunities.

We want our shop to be a welcoming place where people can connect with animals, ask questions, learn and feel supported.

Belle is a valued member of the Inverell Pet World team, providing friendly customer service and helping ensure every pet receives gentle, caring attention while in our care.

Belle’s Duties & Services

Customer Service – welcoming customers, answering questions and helping customers find the right products for their pets.
Pet Product Assistance – helping customers choose suitable food, treats, toys, bedding, accessories and general pet-care products.
Pre-Grooming Care – preparing dogs for grooming, including brushing, coat preparation and general pre-grooming care.
Bathing & Drying – providing gentle bathing and drying services using appropriate products for each dog's coat and needs.
Pampered Pooch Spa – assisting with our relaxing spa treatments and ensuring each dog has a calm and enjoyable experience.
Pet Massage – providing gentle massage treatments designed to help dogs relax and enjoy some extra pampering.
Coat & General Care – assisting with brushing, coat maintenance and basic grooming preparation.
Animal Care – helping maintain the comfort, cleanliness and wellbeing of animals while they are in the store.
Customer Education – providing practical information to customers about everyday pet care, grooming and suitable products.

Animal Care & Customer Support Assistant

Finbar is part of the Inverell Pet World team, assisting with the day-to-day care of our animals and providing friendly, helpful support to our customers.

Finbar’s Duties & Responsibilities

Animal Care & Handling – assisting with the safe and gentle handling of animals in store.
Animal Assistance – catching and safely securing animals when customers are selecting or viewing them.
General Animal Advice – sharing practical, general information about the care, behaviour, housing and needs of our animals.
Customer Assistance – talking with customers, answering general questions and helping them find the information or products they need.
Animal Selection Support – assisting customers when viewing animals and helping them understand their general care requirements.
Store Animal Welfare – helping ensure animals are handled appropriately and kept comfortable, clean and well cared for.
General Store Support – assisting the team with day-to-day tasks and helping maintain a positive experience for both customers and animals.
Friendly, Helpful & Animal-Focused
Finbar has a genuine love for animals and enjoys helping customers wherever he can. He can be a little quiet or shy when meeting new people, but he is always happy to assist and will do his very best to help our customers and their pets.
Finbar particularly enjoys working directly with the animals and takes pride in handling them calmly, gently and respectfully. If he doesn't know the answer to a question, he is always happy to find a member of the team who can help.

At Inverell Pet World, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to learn, gain confidence and develop valuable workplace skills.

We are proud to provide work experience opportunities for students, including students who are neurodivergent or may benefit from a supportive and understanding workplace environment.

From time to time, you may see different students working alongside our team and learning about animal care, customer service, retail and the day-to-day running of a pet shop.
